CLEVELAND, Ohio – Highland Springs, a leading provider of behavioral health services in the Cleveland area, has teamed up with University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s to open its newest outpatient center, Changes®, to provide mental health and substance use treatment for kids in the local community.  The new state-of-the-art facility, located at 34125 Solon Road in Solon, will provide partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs for children and adolescents aged 8 to 17.

Today, research shows that one in five teenagers lives with a mental health condition, and that has contributed to suicide becoming the second leading cause of death of teens in Ohio.  Further, according to the Health and Human Services Office of Adolescent Health, more than 20 percent of the state’s high school seniors have used a prescription drug for a non-medical reason.

“We know our collaboration with University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s can help us do more to help prevent this epidemic from needlessly taking so many of our children’s lives.  Our compassionate team at Changes will provide intense outpatient therapy for kids that struggle with mental health or addiction issues every day,” said Highland Springs Chief Executive Officer, Matt Winchester.

“This newly renovated facility will allow University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s providers to combine dialectical, cognitive, music, art and recreational therapies plus yoga, with medication management to help children and teens address mental health conditions and substance use disorders,” said Patti DePompei, President, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s and MacDonald Women’s hospitals.

Changes provides:

  • Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Programs
  • Individualized treatment and aftercare plans
  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
  • Medication management and monitoring
  • Group therapy and education
  • Family support and education
  • Integration of academics in daytime programming
  • Collaboration and discharge planning with area schools and providers

Changes will treat adolescents with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, substance use issues, and other common mental health conditions.  While Changes will be open Monday through Friday, assessments and telephone triage are available round-the-clock, 365 days per year.

The newly constructed facility will be open to the media and community members for an open house on August 29, 2019, from 3-6 p.m.  Its secure, peaceful accommodations feature comfortable therapy rooms, warm and welcoming interior spaces, a modern lunchroom, classrooms and meeting spaces. The innovative space is designed to promote safety and healing for our patients and their families.

Said Winchester, “We are fully staffed and licensed to care for adolescents with a wide range of diagnoses. We exist to fill a gap, for intensive outpatient behavioral care and services. We are focused on quality and safety within a very respectful environment.”
